My current practice is dedicated to conducting psychosocial evaluations for immigration proceedings. I have been working with immigration attorneys and conducting evaluations, in Spanish and English, since 2014. In addition to working with clients in-person and via secure video conference, I have experience conducting evaluations in family and adult immigration detention centers. I am accepted as an expert for asylum, U visas, hardship waivers and VAWA applications and am listed in the UC Hastings Center for Gender and Refugee Studies Asylum Database. I also train attorneys and non-clinical audiences in working with survivors of trauma, including asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors.

As the son of Salvadorean immigrant parents, Hector knows how psychosocial factors can impact immigrant families. This allows him to see how immigration-related stressors, such as trauma, acculturation challenges, and family separation affect his clients. Moreover, Hector practices cultural humility to empathize with diverse populations. Hector is also a trauma-informed clinician that strives to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can openly discuss their experiences and concerns. Hector approaches each evaluation with empathy, objectivity, and a steadfast dedication to advocating for the well-being of his clients.
