For more than a decade, I have worked with people affected by trauma, violence, and victimization, including providing advocacy within legal, medical, criminal justice, and other systems that can sometimes create additional harm for the people they are intended to serve. That experience shapes how I approach evaluation. I pay careful attention to the context surrounding a person’s experiences, barriers to disclosure, patterns of coercion and control, and the ways trauma may affect memory, communication, behavior, and functioning. I approach each case with curiosity rather than assumptions and work to produce a thorough, objective account that accurately reflects the complexity of the person’s experiences.
